My trip to the Emerald City!

Just getting caught up, had a wonderful time up in Seattle, visiting with friends, soaking up some lovely weather, and enjoying two evenings with my favorite band :) I feel blessed to have some time to get away and relax.

It was also awesome to see folks wearing my shirts! Ran into a few, was able to say hi and took pics with some, it made me feel very proud and happy to see folks enjoying my design :)

Life has been stressful lately, and creativity has been sporadic. The respite was much needed and appreciated. It helped reset my eyes. And having some awesome music wash over me, and sharing that energy with fans who feel the music as deeply as I do...that reset my spirit. I definitely feel inspired, and have a few drawings in the works. Keep an eye open - they're coming soon!

In addition to shirts in both mens' and ladies' styles, I am now also offering the design on tank tops and hoodies. I can also accomodate different colors, just let me know which color you'd like and I can check to see if the supplier has it available.

Leaving here...yeah yeah yeah!

Just finished packing up, tomorrow morning I take to the skies to visit Seattle! Been there a few times and never get sick of it....so many cool places to visit and things to do, and I always love visiting with my friends.

I've been bad in neglecting my blog as of late, as the lyric goes, "life, it don't leave you alone". I'm looking forward to relaxing with good folks, being in a great town, and seeing my favorite band kick ass and take names in their hometown.

Also looking forward to bringing my sketchbook along and getting caught up with the lines locked in my head. Drawing is something else that has been neglected...which pains me. Seattle is such a great town and I know I'll find some inspiration. The thought of a blank page and a freshly sharpened pencil, and time to do something with them....ahhhh, I cannot wait.

I'll share some new creations and pics when I return....take care, and be sound :)

Gratitude

Morning was cold and foggy, but the sun came out thankfully later on...perfect weather to enjoy a stroll through the Morcom Rose Garden in Oakland. Built in 1932, it is 4 acres of beautiful roses! A myriad of colors and scents.

My sister and I discovered it a few months back, tucked away down a side street - hidden gem. So glad we did! Was a perfect opporunity to practice using my new camera too :)

I find so much peace and inspiration when enveloped by natural beauty. Over the past week and a half I've gotten much-needed peace and inspiration in many forms...music, art, nature, and most importantly the kindness and love of those close to me.

Sometimes it is good to stop and smell the roses. And one should always take a moment, every day, to give thanks for what you have.

Gone too soon.

A little bit of rambling.

It has hit me harder than I had anticipated, I guess as the shock is wearing off. I've been feeling a lot of different emotions....mostly sadness, for his family and kids for their loss, and the loss of what the future could have held for him, and what music we could have heard.

Anger at those around him who didn't love him enough, doctors and handlers who didn't take care of him like they should have, and celebrities who praise him now and call him "their own" even though they didn't seem to care before he died (I'm looking at you, Jamie Foxx).

All this has been tempered by the love of his music, which has been part of my life, going back to the Jackson 5.

I won't forget the day it happened...since it was on my birthday. Losing such a big figure from my childhood felt strange. However, I suppose all the more reason to celebrate life, and embrace every second one is given.

There are so many Michael Jackson songs that I love, and it is just too difficult to choose a favorite. When I found out the news, the song that popped in my head, and that I almost needed to hear, was "Butterflies", from his "Invincible" album. It feels old school, with a great mellow summer sort of feel to it. I just find it soothing.

The video clip below is just for the music, as he didn't do a video for the song. Which is too bad, would have been nice to see what he would have done with it.
