New drawing, "Cloud Lifting"

 Been working on this sketch for a couple of weeks. It started off in graphite, playing with straight lines.

Expanding on the basic lines, adding texture and shading.

As I worked on it, the concept of pulling the veil of sadness away, or finding light through darkness began to influence the direction. I overlaid colored pencil over the graphite, emphasizing some dark lines with pencil again at the end.

Final version, with the tape pulled off and edges clean.

 

A reminder that dark moments do pass. It is one that I try to keep in my thoughts always!
